About Nunavut Lifeline
Keewatin Air Lifeline (KAL) began operating in the district of Keewatin in 1972, providing charter airline services out of Rankin Inlet, Northwest Territories using single engine aircraft. Rankin Inlet is now in the new territory of Nunavut, less than 300 miles from the Arctic Circle. KAL identified the need for a formal air medical program in the mid 80's, and started the medevac service in 1987. Pressurized aircraft, medical staff and equipment were deployed to meet the needs of the northern health agency. We now operate a state of the art hangar facility, with staff accommodations in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut with similar facilities in Churchill, Manitoba.
